The Fifth Annual SCOAP Statewide Retreat is scheduled for Monday, May 15th, at the Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center in SeaTac, WA. The SCOAP Annual Retreat is an exciting and inspiring event attended by SCOAP surgeons, data abstractors, quality improvement professionals, and staff members from over 50 hospitals and clinics from across Washington State.
The agenda will include a "Year in Review" with focus on accomplishments and milestones, as well as a session on comparative effectiveness research, an update on Medicare, and a look to future trends and directions. Governor Christine Gregoire and members of the Bree Collaborative will speak about the future of health care quality in Washington State at a combined luncheon session with the other FHCQ programs.
Afternoon breakout sessions will include sessions on glucose control, how to drive best practice, as well as a workgroup for data abstractors/QI staff. We will wrap up the day with the Foundation’s keynote speaker, Dr. Abraham Verghese, physician, professor and author of three New York Times bestsellers.
The retreat will also feature a session on SCOAP CERTAIN's "Strong for Surgery." This campaign seeks to identify and improve evidence-based practices to help patients have better surgical outcomes. The first Strong for Surgery initiative will bring a pre-surgery checklist and nutritional interventions to doctor’s offices to improve surgical outcomes.
