CERTAIN's Strong for Surgery featured in Wall Street Journal

Strong for Surgery has been featured in the Wall Street Journal's Informed Patient column. The article features interviews with a patient who benefited from quitting smoking before his surgery as Strong for Surgery advocates, as well as with 2 clinicians currently implementing Strong for Surgery checklists in their practice.

A patient’s risk of negative outcomes from surgery is often both pre-determined and modifiable before entering the operating room. Strong for Surgery brings a pre-surgery checklist to doctor’s offices to improve clinical outcomes. The Strong for Surgery initiative aims to identify and improve evidence-based practices for elective surgical patients in four target areas: nutrition, glycemic control/diabetes management, smoking cessation, and medication review.
