Open Position: SORCE Scientific Director

SORCE (the administrative home of CERTAIN) is recruiting for the open position of Scientific Director. This position will provide senior-level, seasoned professional planning and execution of 5-10 major surgical outcomes, health services, and patient-centered research programs. This position will act as a scientific and technical lead on day-to-day project operations, significantly contribute to material production of research materials, and serve as a program management lead across several diverse projects and investigative teams. S/he will facilitate and address technical development and timely completion of scientific objectives. S/he will effectively communicate goals and priorities to investigators and collaborators and provide direction to project staff.

As a member of the SORCE leadership team, the position is a critical participant in strategic planning efforts and decisions for the center on whole. S/he will have specific charge in providing scientific leadership and programmatic oversight to 1-3 functional teams at SORCE.

This position’s time will be divided as follows: (1) Scientific Development and Conduct of Research (40%). As an individual contributor, carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved research techniques and procedures; (2) Senior Level Project Management (40%). In a senior level project supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a large and significant project, or a number of small projects with numerous complex features; and, (3) Center Leadership (20%). As a member of the SORCE leadership team, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
