DEBUT Study

Diverticulitis Evaluation of Patient Burden, Utilization & Trajectory (DEBUT) is a study examining outcomes for patients with diverticulitis. The goal of the DEBUT study is to improve diverticulitis care by better understanding:

  • how doctors and patients make decisions to have elective (non-emergency) surgery to remove all or part of the colon;

  • how treatment decisions affect symptoms, quality of life, and overall health;

  • the impact of diverticulitis on patients’ lives.

Results of this study will help to develop a patient-centered model of care for diverticulitis, inform patient and clinician decision-making, and develop future studies of new diverticulitis treatments.
