Since 2011, CERTAIN has been working with the spine care community in Washington State through the CERTAIN Spine Care Forum. Over 100 diverse healthcare stakeholders come together on a quarterly basis to identify areas requiring further examination and areas for improvements in care delivery. The CERTAIN Spine Care Forum has been essential in the initial review of Spine SCOAP quality improvement data and has directed initiatives to improve the collection of patient-reported outcomes in back pain and increase smoking cessation in all pre-operative patients.
Members of the Spine Care Forum will play a central role in shaping the expansion of Spine SCOAP, non-operative spine care quality improvement and research assessments. This will include determining future needs for spine quality improvement activities and developing other comparative effectiveness research activities in spine care through the CERTAIN research network.
